The issue of sibling rivalry is something that parents must deal with all the time. Ordinarily, this will involve older children but also includes youngsters who must deal with the added attention paid to newborn siblings. In the case of one family, the birth of a child resulted in something contrary to such concerns when the newborn’s older brother was captured on a cellphone video gently singing to his new brother.
For the first half of the one-minute video, the older brother can be seen gazing at the face of his younger brother. He then notices that his mother is filming him, which results in a smile from him and a chuckle from his mother. Despite the brief interaction with his mother, the older brother continues singing until he finishes. The song the older brother sings is John Denver’s 1982 song, “No One Like You,” from his Rocky Mountain Holiday album. Ordinarily, a child that age wouldn’t be familiar with music from a singer who died more than a decade before they were even born. However, the album was part of a combination album-television special that put Denver and the Muppets together, which likely explains where the child came across the song.
The simplicity of the lyrics can be seen from the start, with comments about liking all different parts of the body, such as the eyes, mouth and hands.
